House in East Finchley

This project involved the complete renovation of a large family home in East Finchley. Our main objective was to create a spacious and functional living area that could accommodate all our clients’ needs. This included adding side and rear extensions to the house, as well as converting the unused loft space into two additional bedrooms and a bathroom.

However, obtaining planning permission for such a large-scale project in Finchley is a challenge. To overcome this, we split the design drawings into separate Planning and Permitted Development applications. We were able to use PD rights to gain approval for all the roof changes and Planning Approval for the extensions.

House, Extension, Refurbishment, Loft Conversion

We created a fantastic family space with 7m wide sliding glass doors that open completely onto the garden in the summer. The space is filled with natural light thanks to a very large frameless glass roof light that brings light into the kitchen and dining area. The side extension is accessed through a sliding door from the kitchen and contained the pantry, store, and utility rooms.

The interior of the house received equal attention, with every aspect being given careful consideration. We created a cinema room on the ground floor with double sliding doors, recessed floor lights, and a coffered ceiling with rope lights. We also planned each room in detail, selecting colours and finishes that suited our clients’ tastes and requirements. The family bathroom featured carefully planned diamond-shaped tiling that created a distinctive pattern on the floor and walls.

We designed side and rear roof extensions to maximise space for the loft conversion and to create two additional bedrooms and an extra bathroom. The bedrooms were fitted with frameless glass roof lights that increased the head height and brought light into the study spaces.

The exterior of the house also received a complete makeover. We completely re-landscaped the garden to reduce the slope and create new soft landscaped areas, bin storage, and new steps to the front door. At the rear, we enclosed the new patio space with a curved brick wall that retains a higher garden level and soft landscaping.
